Jacksonville

Custom business software, built in Jacksonville.

One developer, based here, who designs and writes the software personally on every project. You talk to the person building your system rather than to an account manager.

A one-person studio in Jacksonville building custom business software. What that means in practice:

  • The person you talk to on the first call is the person who writes the code
  • Work happens remotely, for clients here and anywhere else in the US
  • Every project is scoped before it is quoted, and priced flat

You own everything built for you, permanently.

Tillr Systems is a remote studio based in Jacksonville, Florida. There is no walk-in office. Projects run over video calls and shared documents, which is how the work gets done for clients here and elsewhere in the country alike.

You'll recognise this if

  • You would rather work with someone in your own time zone than a team offshore
  • You have been quoted by an agency and could not tell who would write the code
  • You want to know the person building the thing your business will run on
  • You are comparing local firms and cannot see what separates them
  • You would like a straight answer about whether you should build at all

How we'd approach it

  1. 1

    A thirty-minute call, no charge

You describe what is slowing you down and we say what we would build, or that you should buy something instead. Plenty of these calls end with a recommendation to use an existing product, which costs us the project and saves you the money.

  2. 2

    Scoping before a number

How much scoping a project needs before it can be quoted honestly depends on the project, and we will be straight about which kind yours is. Nobody gets a price out of a form here, because a price given before the scope is understood is a guess.

  3. 3

Built, handed over, supported if you want it

You see working pieces early rather than everything at the end. At launch you get training, the code, the data and a real handover, plus optional monthly support that you can cancel whenever.

What changes

  • An agency where you never meet the developer

One person, who you talk to directly, start to finish

  • A quote with no scope behind it

Scope first, then a flat price and dates that do not move

  • Software you rent and cannot change

Software you own, that changes when you decide

Common questions

Do you meet clients in person in Jacksonville?
Not usually. The studio is based here but the work runs remotely over calls and shared documents, and that is true whether a client is in Jacksonville or another state. It keeps the work moving faster than scheduling site visits would, and it means being local is a fact about where taxes get paid rather than a promise about meetings.
Do you only work with Florida businesses?
No. Clients are across the United States and the process is the same wherever they are. Being in Jacksonville matters for time zone and for knowing the local business landscape, not for who is eligible to hire us.
Who actually writes the code?
John Rossello, on every project. There is no team behind the curtain and nothing is passed to subcontractors. That is a real constraint on how many projects run at once, and it is the reason the person on your first call knows the answer to your technical question.
How do you compare to the bigger development firms here?
A larger firm has more capacity and more people to hand a project to when someone leaves, which are genuine advantages worth weighing. What you get here instead is that the person who understood your problem is the person who builds it, and no part of the explanation gets lost being relayed.

This is one way into the custom business software we build. Most projects start with whichever piece is costing the most and grow into the others, so it is worth seeing the whole picture before deciding where to begin.

Start with thirty minutes.

Tell us what's slowing you down and we'll tell you what we'd build. How much scoping it needs before a quote depends on the job, and we'll be straight with you about that.
